Parcel cover is picked on the delivery request too

The screen that takes Tigbuy’s service charge also offers parcel cover. Tigbuy calls its plan the secure Plan. It is optional, priced on a different base from the service charge, and comes with conditions worth reading first.

No line comes with cover included

Our own check on 17 October 2026 read 21 different shipping lines across twelve destinations. None of them came with cover included: the insurance flag on every line was empty. Tigbuy’s home page and help centre do not promise free cover either.

That makes cover a decision you take at the delivery request, item by item and parcel by parcel. If you skip it, Tigbuy’s help pages describe no compensation rule for an uninsured parcel that is lost or late; the delay and loss rules sit inside the plan’s terms only.

The 21 lines are the ones our check sampled across twelve destinations at one weight; Tigbuy may sell others. If the request screen shows a line with cover included, the screen is the authority, and we would like to hear about it.

What Tigbuy charges for its parcel cover

help 43 prices the plan at three percent of the insured value, and gives its own example: insure 200 RMB and the plan costs 6 RMB. The maximum insured value depends on the line, up to 10,000 RMB.

The article also says when you choose it: you need items ready in the warehouse, and when you submit them to ship you can select insurance. That is the same step as the service charge, but the two use different bases. The service charge is a percentage of item price plus China freight; the cover is a percentage of whatever value you choose to insure.

Orders where you bought the goods yourself and sent them to Tigbuy are compensated on a different scale: 40 CNY per kilogram, up to 400 CNY.

What the cover says it pays for

Help 43 lists five situations: loss in transit, seizure by customs, damage in transit, parcels returned, and delay on certain lines. Each comes with conditions.

  • Damage: a video of the parcel being unboxed, contact within three days of delivery, a list of damaged products and photos of the damage. Water damage is covered only if the waterproof option was chosen.
  • Missing items: an unboxing video.
  • Seizure: proof, usually a customs letter; only the insured value is returned.
  • Returns from your country: the original shipping price comes back as a voucher for a second delivery. Returns are not covered on one courier line that the article names.

Late parcels and lost parcels follow separate rules

The plan treats delay and loss as two different events.

Delay: if an insured parcel is in transit for more than 60 days, counted from the date you submitted it, Tigbuy can refund 20 percent of the freight. This does not apply to train or sea lines, China Post SAL or EUB.

Loss: a parcel counts as lost on solid proof from the shipping agent, a letter you received, or after waiting at least five months. A lost insured parcel is paid at the full insured amount.

Note what the delay rule pays: part of the freight, not the goods. And note the clock: both rules count from events you can date yourself, the submission and the waiting period, so keep the request date.

Two cards: delay after 60 days refunds part of the freight on some lines, loss after proof or five months pays the insured amount

Cancelling cover, and parcels that come back

If you cancel a parcel before it ships, the cover payment is refunded to your account. Once the parcel has left, the plan is active and cannot be refunded.

Returned parcels have their own help page. help 78 says a parcel sent back because of Chinese customs is re-sent free once Tigbuy has confirmed your address, while a parcel returned for a wrong address or because nobody received it is re-sent with the shipping fee charged again.

The service charge does not come back in either case; it was taken at the request, on items that did go into a parcel.

Two return reasons: returned by Chinese customs and re-sent free, or returned for a wrong address and re-sent with shipping charged again
Help 78, two outcomes.

The first hours after delivery

Tigbuy’s pages give several deadlines for reporting a problem, and they do not agree. The Terms of Service say after-sales service applies for 72 after delivery, without a unit; the plan asks for contact within three days for damage; other articles give no limit. The safe reading is the strictest one: get in touch with Tigbuy before 72 hours have passed since delivery, and record the unboxing on video starting with the parcel still sealed.

help 29 adds one practical step: photograph the label on the package and send it with your description. And help 69 warns that if fragile things such as glass or porcelain break on the way, the loss falls on the buyer.

Customs at both ends of the trip

help 30 splits customs into two halves. Tigbuy promises to get the parcel through Chinese export customs and answers for anything that goes wrong at that border. At the destination, the recipient is responsible for making sure the goods can be imported and for any duty or tax; Tigbuy is not responsible if goods are taxed or confiscated in your country.

This site does not cover shipping lines or freight prices. Tigbuy’s shipping estimator asks you to sign in before it shows a quote, and the delivery request screen shows the lines available for your address.
